Eileithyia was the goddess of childbirth and midwifery in greek mythology. She was the daughter of Hera and Zeus according to Hesiod. She was related with birth of divine child, divine helper of women in labour and her cult is linked with Enesidaon god Poseidon. There is some possibility that her cult is also related with Eleusis. She was born in a cave near Knossos, Crete, and became the main place of worship for the goddess. The goddess was also worshipped in Olympia.
